B1 - OSINT Introduction Course
Learn the principles of researching open-source and publicly available information in the Internet
Following an introduction to the conceptual history and potential applications of OSINT, the course focuses on its twin components: open source and intelligence. It covers, among other things, the differences between OSINF and OSINT, information sources/reference searches and source evaluation, and it also provides an introduction into the application of the intelligence cycle and the collection plan. This is followed by introductions into the two main areas of OSINT on which the Public Security Academy focuses: investigation, with special reference to research relating to individuals and organisations, and situational assessment, which above all covers geoinformation and event research. Finally, the material learned is applied in a concluding exercise followed by a discussion.

E1 - Basic Course in Investigation
Learn the principles of digital research approaches as they relate to individuals and organisations in the Internet
Prior to embarking on further-reaching Internet research, it is necessary to conduct due preparations for ensuring technical security; this is therefore the first topic covered in the course. It is followed, among other themes, by methods of web and image research as they relate to individuals and organisations, as well as handling databases and leaks, and gathering information in Social Media. A basic introduction into appropriate and expedient reporting is followed by a concluding exercise, in which the material covered in the course is put to the test.
1 day | 550€ per person | 8-10 participants
E2 - Advanced Course in Investigation
Deepen your knowledge of digital research approaches as they relate to individuals and organisations in the Internet
When Internet investigations involve international entities, it is necessary not only to possess knowledge of regional platforms and networks but also to conduct research in other (unfamiliar) languages; this forms the first topic covered by the Advanced Course. It is followed by an introduction into transportation intelligence, which refers to research concerning vehicles, aircraft and ships. Ways of investigating the Dark Web and how to conduct such investigations are followed by a technological outlook, that covers, for example, the extent to which AI is able to support in-house OSINT personnel. The Advanced Course, too, concludes with an exercise, in which the methods of the series find a practical application.
1 day | 550€ per person | 8-10 participants
L1 - Basic Course in Situational Analysis
Learn the principles of conducting digital situational assessments of locations and events in the Internet
Situational assessment first and foremost concerns the use of geolocation methods in web, image and social media research; the course provides an introduction into this, in accordance with the principles of operational security (OPSEC) in the Internet. This is followed by principles of transportation intelligence, i.e. research into vehicles, aircraft and ships. Participants then familiarise themselves with how to conduct appropriate and expedient reporting, after which the Basic Course concludes with an exercise designed to consolidate the learning material.
1 day | 550€ per person |8-10 participants
L2 - Advanced Course in Situational Analysis
Deepen your knowledge of conducting digital situational assessments of locations and events in the Internet
The evaluation and analysis of events on the basis of image data requires a deeper knowledge of the methods of digital situational assessment. A presentation of the basic principles is followed by an introduction into the automatic evaluation of Internet content, known as web scraping, followed by the systematic utilisation of academic (research intelligence). products. Before presenting an outlook of the technological future of digital situational analysis, the course presents selected structured analysis techniques (SATs) that are among the basic tools used by OSINT analysts in this context. The Advanced Course, too, concludes with an exercise, in which the methods of the series find a practical application.
1 day |550€ per person | 8-10 participants
Special: IMINT / Georeferencing
This course looks more deeply at the possibilities of acquiring knowledge from image and map materials
Participants learn what information can be found in images and videos. Explanations are provided into the use of metadata, various geolocation methods, and image georeferencing tools, while the evaluation of (commercial) satellite and aerial images is presented and elaborated on in an instructive and detailed manner using practical examples and exercises.
2 days | 1.100€ per person | 8-10 participants
Special: Web Scraping
The course gives an introduction into how web scraping and crawling works, along with principles of HTML and a presentation of Python software, which is employed in web scraping.
Even without a deeper knowledge of programming, there are approaches available to OSINT analysts that enable automation and provide technical support in the context of information gathering. The course covers the process of scraping static and dynamic websites and the handling of anti-crawling measures, and also includes practical exercises. No programming knowledge is required for this course.

Real-time simulation for OSINT-Analysten
Practise your OSINT skills in a simulated and collaborative environment
We offer live training sessions for OSINT-Analysts in cooperation with PREVENCY GmbH. Here, teams of analysts are given an opportunity to manage situations in the information space that have been devised jointly with us in advance, in a simulated Internet environment. Although not based on genuine data, the training involves the use of highly realistic scenarios for evaluation and analysis, supported by AI and live trainers.

Cyber Threat Intelligence Basics
In this introductory course, the principles of Cyber Threat Intelligence are explained for lateral entrants in security agencies and the military; no deeper prior technical knowledge is required.
What is meant by intelligence in Cyberspace? Which actors are already known? What attack vectors exist? What is meant by indicators of compromise, and what benefit do they have at tactical, operational and strategic levels? Furthermore, attribution frameworks are presented and the significance of information sharing is discussed.
