Well-proven, efficient and long-term solution for the Navy

Already well-proven in NATO missions worldwide, the P-8A Poseidon will significantly enhance the capabilities of the armed forces – whether in anti-submarine warfare and surface vessel combat, information gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance, or search and rescue missions.

State-of-the-art technology for the Bundeswehr

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and an open system architecture, the P-8A meets all current and future requirements of the German Navy. By continuously providing technical updates, the P-8A will remain up-to-date well into the 2050s. German industry will benefit from the future capability growth of the P-8A.

Worldwide interoperability

The P-8A Poseidon enables direct interoperability with eight other operators - including three NATO countries: Great Britain, Norway and the USA. Thus, the P-8A has a global operator network with proven maintenance and training programmes. Based on the 737NG, of which 1600 aircraft have been delivered to European airlines, the P-8A offers significant advantages in production, training and maintenance.

An experienced team for the P-8A in Germany

The German industry team around Boeing, ESG as well as Lufthansa Technik – gather together decades of experience in the support of military aircraft and the aircraft of the Special Air Mission Wing of the Federal Ministry of Defence. With these experienced partners, the requirements of the German Navy are ideally met and a smooth commissioning of the P-8A is guaranteed. In addition, more than 100 highly qualified jobs will be created in Germany.

ESG is a reliable partner of the Bundeswehr and has decades of experience in supporting military aircraft. ESG is already entrusted with the technical and logistical support of the maritime reconnaissance aircraft and ground stations of the German naval air force.
