ESG and JISR team for Cooperative Electromagnetic Support Measures Operations (CESMO)
ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH and JISR Institute, a.s., a company providing comprehensive solutions and capabilities for Joint Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (JISR), are proud to announce the conclusion of a teaming agreement for the joint implementation of the CESMO standard within the German Armed Forces and among OEMs in Germany. The Bundeswehr already holds a general licence for JISR’s CESMO Situational Awareness Software 'CESMOS' (CESMO Software Solution). By partnering with JISR we are combining JISR's cutting-edge solution with our expertise as a system integrator. In this way, we are successfully bringing our comprehensive capabilities to the market.
CESMO (Cooperative Electromagnetic Support Measures Operations) is an IP-based, standardised NATO protocol designed to support electromagnetic support operations. It enables the real-time detection and precise localisation of (potential) enemy, friendly and own forces, which shortens response times and significantly improves the protection of soldiers in the field. In view of the rapidly growing importance of multi-domain operations (MDO), CESMO will become an indispensable component of future military operations. In the document ‘Fachkonzept Elektromagnetischer Kampf der Bundeswehr’, CESMO was therefore defined as mandatory for all new procurements and major overhauls of existing systems in the context of electromagnetic warfare.
JISR is a Czech company based in Prague providing comprehensive solution and capabilities for Joint Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (JISR), Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) and drone protection. JISR’s software solution, CESMOS, is a state-of-the-art system designed to optimise the sharing, fusion, and dissemination of Electronic Support Measures (ESM) information. The features of CESMOS empower military and defence organisations to optimise their electromagnetic warfare capabilities, foster cooperation among assets, and improve situational awareness in complex operational environments. It represents a significant advance in the field of electromagnetic warfare, enabling effective real-time response to modern threats for the first time.
CESMOS has demonstrated its effectiveness as a central component for electromagnetic warfare in initial tests and exercises. The software has been successfully integrated into various platforms from all domains, including the Tornado combat aircraft and the SEA Lynx helicopter. CESMOS has also been tested on various German Navy frigates and has proven itself in live operations. Furthermore, the software has been used successfully in national and international exercises, including the NATO Tiger Meet in Germany and the international RIMPAC exercise in Hawaii.
‘The partnership with JISR gives ESG the opportunity to fully utilise its capabilities as a prime contractor and system integrator,’ said Jürgen Beck, Vice President Division Cyber and Information of ESG. ‘By combining the state-of-the-art CESMOS software solution with ESG's expertise as a system integrator, ESG is sustainably strengthening its leading position in the implementation of the CESMO standard for the German Armed Forces and OEMs in Germany.’
