ZEBEL – Bundeswehr continues to rely on ESG
Now that the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag has given the green light for the award of the ZEBEL contract, the assignment by the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support has been implemented and the corresponding contract signed. ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH will thus assume responsibility for the success story of the ‘Central Bundeswehr Spare Parts Logistics’ (ZEBEL) for the next decade.
ZEBEL is an integral and fundamental part of the Bundeswehr's logistics system and has been synonymous with effective co-operation between the public sector and industry to increase effectiveness and efficiency for over 20 years.
The agreed scope of services includes the following core tasks in particular:
- Provision and order-related commissioning of supplies for the maintenance of predominantly land-based weapon systems within 24/48 hours
- Material and data management for the Bundeswehr's non-autonomous federal warehouses, in particular for maintenance companies for predominantly airborne weapon systems
- Connection of the contractor's IT system to the Bundeswehr's IT system to enable the mapping of logistical processes and the provision of logistical data in the Bundeswehr's logistics system
In addition, ESG will ensure the implementation of the latest standards in terms of logistics, infrastructure and environmental technology in future: to this end, ESG has invested in the rental of a newly constructed, state-of-the-art property, which will not only ensure the future-oriented, requirement-oriented performance of the ZEBEL warehouse, but will also make a significant contribution to optimising the environmental footprint. The Bundeswehr and ESG are thus fulfilling their social responsibility to preserve the environment and at the same time can sustainably significantly save energy costs over the course of the project. In addition, thanks to modern warehouse planning and automation, it will be possible in future to handle up to three times the volume of material on a hall floor area that is only slightly larger than before. In this way, ESG is making a significant contribution to the operational readiness of the systems, even under the changed security policy framework conditions.
